In order to help sell the controversial HST to Ontarians, the liberals are set to launch a 1.6 million dollar ad campaign on Thursday.  Through the use of print, web and television ads the government is urging residence to take a closer look at the provinces new tax structure.  Revenue minister John Wilkinson said the ads are  ”an attempt to clear up misinformation out there about the coming harmonized sales tax and tax reform.”

Members of the opposition parties are calling foul, saying that the liberals are spending tax payer dollars to fund ads about an imminent tax increase.  Progressive conservative Lisa Macleod spoke out against the liberals and Premier McGuinty stating that ““He (McGuinty) promised not to increase taxes and to ban partisan advertising, the premier has failed on both counts.”

this is atrocious! spending our money on their taxes. enough is enough of these campaigns to make things seem better than they are. if its not being accepted, no amount of money should be spent to push it foward. period.
