Ontario HST Debate

Ontario HST Debate

The Agenda with Steve Paikin ran a six minute segment called the HST Debate with a few notable contributors. Don Drummond of the TD Bank Financial Group feels the Harmonized Sales Tax is the only way Ontario will be able to balance the Ontario deficit. Yasir Naqvi, Liberal MPP of Ottawa-Centre feels it’s the best way to give the economy a boost by creating jobs and stability. Michael Prue feels the Ontario Harmonized Sales Tax is shifting taxation from businesses to the consumers. Len Crispino of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce counters Mr. Prue’s position by stating Ontario HST will benefit small business – which is the tip of the iceberg for a more specific debate.

Unfortunately the time restrictions of television get in the way of letting these individuals actually plead their full cases, but on the web we don’t have such restrictions so feel free to share your position here below the video.
